07-08 Clipper Round the World Yacht
The 10 boats participating in the Clipper Race, the brainchild of Sir Robin-Knox Johnston, visited Halifax in early June, including team Nova Scotia. The 68-foot yachts visited 14 ports during their 10-month, 35,000-mile circumnavigation.

Open 60 Paprec-Virbac
Skipper Jean-Pierre Dick and his Open 60 monohull Paprec-Virbac stopped over in Halifax in June 2007, enroute to France. The French skipper and his sailing partner Damian Fox had used the 2,200-mile trip from Panama to Halifax as their qualification run for the two-handed, round the world Barcelona World Race, which began in November 2007. The two won the race, covering 25,000 miles of ocean in 92 days.

Skippered by Vincent Riou of France, the Open 60 PRB made an unexpected stop at the RNSYS for keel repairs. Open 60s are high-tech, carbon-fibre vessels designed for speed rather than comfort.
