Sales seem Solid at Vancouver Boat Show

Boating Industry Canada vice president Greg Nicoll attended the Vancouver International Boat Show, Feb 4-8, in person to take the pulse of the market on Canada’s west coast, and he found that there was a positive attitude backed up by what appeared to be increased show attendance, reports Boating Industry Canada in its February 10 newsletter.

Though unofficial, Nicoll said he heard reports that show attendance was actually up, perhaps as much as two percent, but Boating Industry Canada said it has to wait for official figures to confirm that. Exhibitors did seem to back that up though, reporting a positive attitude and business climate.

"Things are going great,” Jim Cascadden, Regional Sales Manager with Blackfish Marine Luxury Yacht Services, told Boating Industry Canada. “I do all the shows throughout the country and this is one of the most positive ones. Tonight (Friday), tomorrow and Sunday, we're going to see a large increase in crowds. We have already seen steady crowds on Wednesday and Thursday. I've been doing this for 20 years, and despite all the things we're hearing about, I'm feeling very optimistic."

The five –day Vancouver International Boat Show is owned by the BC Marine Trades Association (BCMTA). The show combines on land displays at BC Place Stadium and in-water displays at the False Creek Yacht Club.
