There’s More to Enjoy Than Ever at Shining Waters Marina

Shining Waters Marina has partnered with Saltbox Brewery to present the First Annual St. Margarets Bay Poker Run, Pig Roast and Dance Fundraiser on June 29, 2024, in support of St. Margarets Bay Marine Search and Rescue Society.

The poker run will start at Shining Waters Marina, a full-service marina located in Tantallon, Nova Scotia. From there, boaters will travel to sites around scenic St. Margarets Bay to collect tokens as proof of their travels.

After completing their journey, participants will head back to Shining Waters Marina to enjoy a pig roast by Cavicchi’s on the Water and a dance featuring the musical stylings of Hopping Penguins, a mainstay in the area that delivers a unique blend of reggae, ska, funk, soul, R&B and rock.

The event also features a 50/50 raffle, which will be drawn at 8:00 p.m. on the night of the pig roast and dance.

The proceeds of the event and the 50/50 raffle will go towards the not-for-profit St. Margarets Bay Marine Search and Rescue Society (SMBMSAR), a part of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary better known in the area as Angels Six. This crew of dedicated volunteers, which is based out of Shining Waters Marina, is raising money to fund the operation of their new inshore rescue vessel.

The poker run and pig roast isn’t the only reason to visit Shining Waters Marina this year. Shining Waters offers a host of amenities including a 50-tonne travel lift, on-staff marine service technicians, a mooring field with 40 moorings and 100 slips, a pump out system and the only fuel dock in St. Margarets Bay.

Shining Waters Marina is also home to Boost Marine, a stand alone and complementary marine service provider to augment marine service and availability at the marina.

Until recently, the only thing missing from Shining Waters Marina was something to occupy their giant event space overlooking the waters of the bay. Now, their event space will play host to Saltbox Brewing Company, a local craft brewery offering a wide range of beer, ciders and hard iced teas for sailors and visitors alike. Visitors can also treat themselves to a quick bite from Cavicchi’s on the Water — a family-owned meat retailer and restaurant that is set to open their satellite location at Shining Waters this spring. While grabbing a flight of beer and a snack, visitors to Shining Waters can also take advantage of their stand-up paddle board rental located on-site.

There is a lot more happening at Shining Waters Marina and Saltbox Brewery this summer, too. The taproom’s event list is jam-packed with events and live performances throughout the summer, featuring bands like Signal Hill, The Man in Plaid and Sandy Bottom.
